Early Futures

Projects

About Our Projects: Early Futures is an ongoing set of resources that works to integrate the insight of children into our futures creation process.

Children’s Think Tank: An action research pilot study that looks to study and develop a language for conceptual research with children. Based on the developmental psychology premise that children are the “research & development” of human-kind, our pilot study was developed to explore a friction occurring in the conceptual goals of major research with children. If children on the one hand can, through us studying their physiological processes, help identify patterns in human capacity and direction, might they also through their conceptual process help identify patterns in human capacity and future philosophical directions? In the Children’s Think Tank children ages five to nine-years-old were assisted in developing their own research projects on ‘deep questions’ or topics they felt were not adequately covered in their normal education program …VIEW THE PROJECT…

Narrative Collection: An ongoing database of narratives as told by young children. Meant to both, reveal the inner worlds of children, and be used as a base to extrapolate meaning in contrast to our assumptions about the conceptual world of children. One set of narratives by four-and five-year-olds was put together into a publication, What We Know About Being Here (view .pdf). Future publications will be put out curating narratives developed by children …VIEW THE COLLECTION…

Curriculum Notes: An ongoing set of education based dialogue seeds, initial lights, what-have-yous for developing futures oriented curriculum with children. These showcase completed, under-development and idea-only curriculum ideas for working with children in futures oriented learning spaces. Occasionally we will publish a full curriculum to use, but primarily these are short summaries of ideas or locally implemented curricular ideas…VIEW NOTES…

Mixtum: Mixtum is a wheel of amalgamations. The three spinning wheels of the game are filled with archetypal images from human history. Mixtum was developed to be used in multiple settings, including scientific studies as well as at-home entertainment. Educators use it for developing critical thinking, language, sentence structure and narratives, artists, musicians & poets use it to creatively brainstorm, psychologists use it for revealing inner ways of people, mathematicians use it to study and create new logic, psychics and mediums use it to read synchronicities in the air…

Invented to encourage open-ended experimentation with ideas, Mixtum comes with four basic ways of playing which users can then reinvent to suite their own intentions: combine, narrative, divination and logic … VIEW THE MIXTUM SITE…
